Clare Katner, LMT & Founder
Master Bodyworker, Instructor & Certified Hypnotherapist | Oregon License: #6573
About Clare
For thirty years, Clare Katner has been an intuitive and holistic facilitator of healing. A licensed massage therapist since 1995 and a certified hypnotherapist since 1998, her professional scope is truly mind-body. Her long-term passion for this work stems from witnessing transformations in her clients’ lives.
Clare’s journey began in England while working at Cambridge University. After a life-changing first experience with massage, she realized its profound value as a healing art. This curiosity led her back to the U.S. to attend the highly respected school of massage, Health Enrichment Center.
Expertise & Philosophy
Clare was mentored by the world-famous educator Sandy Fritz, a Massage Hall of Fame inductee and author of the industry’s leading textbooks. From this foundational training, Clare developed a master-level understanding of clinical assessment and the necessity of specialized, individualized care.
As the founder of East Bridge Massage, Clare has fused her B.S. in Education from Indiana University with her love for deep, transformative bodywork. She is not only a practitioner but a loving mentor to her team, ensuring that the “dream clinic” she built maintains the highest standards of clinical excellence and meaningful patient relationships.
Specialized Clinical Focus
Clare specializes in “solving the puzzle” of chronic pain through a blend of structural assessments and then pulls from the tool box of deep tissue techniques:
- Deep Rotator Cuff & Shoulder Girdle Release: Targeted Myofascial Release (MFR) for complex shoulder injuries.
- Deep Hip Flexor & Iliopsoas Release: Essential for lower back health and pelvic alignment.
- Ashiatsu (Deep Feet Bar Therapy): Utilizing gravity-assisted barefoot techniques for the deepest, most consistent pressure possible.
- Trauma-Informed Therapist: A compassionate, consent-based approach to bodywork that honors the nervous system’s needs.
Personal Life
When she’s not guiding her team at East Bridge, Clare is a self-described fitness enthusiast. Having grown up with gymnastics, track, soccer and mountain biking, she understands the “pain and recovery department” from personal experience. She adores spending time with her husband, son, and their Australian Labradoodle,a special gift from a grateful patient.
