At East Bridge Massage, the deep tissue modality is our specialty. Deep tissue massage involves applying a firmer pressure and slow strokes and in turn, reaches deeper layers of muscle and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles). It’s used for everything from a stiff neck to chronic pain and typically upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.

Benefits of Deep Tissue Massage

Combined with other advanced techniques, deep tissue massage will reset your muscle memory in order to elongate and balance muscles so that they function and glide with joints and in turn, positively impact your range-of-motion.

People who regularly receive deep tissue massage therapy from skilled massage therapists experience immediate long-lasting results. Patients who experience these impairments can expect relief from this type of massage:

  • Low back and upper back pain
  • Limited range of motion
  • Recovery from injuries (e.g. whiplash, falls)
  • Repetitive strain injury (e.g. carpal tunnel syndrome)
  • Postural problems
  • Muscle tension
  • Sciatica
  • Piriformis syndrome
  • Tendonitis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Upper back or neck pain

As a massage therapist and teacher for over twenty years, deep tissue is the most effective style of massage I have encountered. If you are seeking relief to as soon as possible, I recommend this type of muscular therapy. I founded East Bridge Massage as a collaborative practice focused on deep tissue massage, where all of our therapists are extremely skilled in this modality.

If you think deep tissue is right for you, East Bridge Massage in Portland, OR, has licensed massage therapists available seven days a week with a lifetime of experience available.
